Vacancy - Executive Director
Based at the impressive Springwood Park facilities near Kelso the Border Union Agricultural Society provides an extremely successful link between agriculture and the wider community.
With over 200 years of history the Society has an outstanding track record of running successful rural events in facilities that have been extensively developed during recent years.
As well as the annual Championship Dog Show, the two-day Border Union Show, the largest ram sales in the UK, and a highly acclaimed schools countryside day, the Springwood Park facilities also host an increasingly wide range of ‘non-agricultural' events including motorcycle conventions, caravan clubs, charity events, retail fairs, weddings, dinners and balls.
Due to the planned retirement of the current Secretary the Society is now looking to recruit a forward thinking and ambitious replacement who can build on the successes gained during recent years.
The aim is to continue to further enhance the established events and to deliver additional growth in the revenues generated from the facilities leasing. Reporting to the Chairs of the Society and the Trustees, the successful candidate will have full management responsibility for running the society, the facilities, day to day operations and a small but dedicated team.
A clear appreciation and empathy of the Agricultural community is required and the successful candidate must have good organisational and communication skills and the ability to listen to the views of a wide range of stakeholders.
A proven track record in business and financial management is also desirable, as is experience in event and facility management.
To apply for this challenging but exciting role, please forward an updated CV, including your current salary package, with a covering letter to Robert Dick, Chairman of the Trustees, at firstname.lastname@example.org where all applications will be treated in the strictest confidence.
