Role Profile

Various posts available throughout North Ayrshire.

Some posts may involve outdoor activity and environmental work.


To promote a wide range of opportunities for the personal growth and development of young people.    


Corporate Responsibilities

  • To undertake individual role in line with the Council's Strategic Priorities and in compliance with the Council's corporate policies and procedures.
  • To undertake any other reasonably required duties as instructed by Management or someone acting on their behalf, in addition to the role specific tasks & responsibilities detailed below.

Role Specific Tasks & Responsibilities

  • To prepare and deliver social education programmes to tackle issues relevant to young people.
  • To develop partnerships with young people to increase their involvement in decision making.
  • To organise and implement group programmes and carry out administrative work in respect of these programmes.
  • To co-operate with other departments, agencies and the voluntary sector to respond to the needs of young people.
  • To maintain records relating to meetings, memberships and finance of the group where appropriate and the recording of and evaluation of community development programme.
  • To ensure young people have access to relevant information and where approproiate access to advice and counselling services.
  • To assist and co-operate with Community Development staff as determined by the Youth Services Officer in developing the youth work strategy of North Ayrshire.






Education and Qualifications

  • Standard grade Intermediate Level 1 or equivalent.

This post is considered Regulated Work with Children, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act, 2007. Therefore, it is an offence to apply if you are barred from working with children.

Preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check, prior to confirmation of employment being made by North Ayrshire Council.
