As a care at home worker with the Enablement Team you will offer a service to all people who require an assessment for care at home in order to achieve their outcomes in their own home.
The Enablement Team work with service users for up to 6 weeks. The service will support and enable people to re learn skills they may have lost or to help develop new skills in order that they can be more independent and improve their quality of life.
The work within this team will involve you following a plan of care and working as part of a team to develop this plan in partnership with the service user.
This is an opportunity to become part of a new team within Fife Health and Social Care where you will undertake a range of duties and tasks which will include assessing and goal setting with the service user and assisting them to plan their own care.
Fife Council pays the Scottish Local Government Living Wage Rate to employees earning less than £8.33 per hour. If the hourly rate of pay for the post is less than the Scottish Local Government Living Wage Rate a supplement will be paid.
Experience is not essential for this position of a Care at Home Worker in the Enablement Team, instead we are looking for individuals with strong interpersonal skills, a caring personality and someone who is reliable and can be relied upon to support the service user in their home in a very rewarding capacity. We are looking for someone that can always work in the best interests of the service user.
On occasions when it is not economical to use a Council vehicle you will be expected attend service users over a wide geographical area and a mileage allowance will be paid.
Whilst there are no essential qualifications required for this post, you must be willing to be educated within the Council's timescale to SCQF level 5 which includes SVQ level 2, in order to register with the Scottish Social Services Council.

Before confirming appointment, you will be required to obtain Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme Membership through Disclosure Scotland.
Registration is due to opens for Care at Home Workers in 2017 applicants new to role must gain registration with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) within six months of start date in this role.
You will be responsible for providing support and personal care for service users in accordance with an assessed need using professional, sensitive and flexible methods and skills in accordance with National Care Standards.
Supporting service users at times of distress, anxiety and confusion.
Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team for the benefits of the people who use the service.
Pushing and pulling of equipment such as hoists, wheelchairs and bathing chairs is an integral part of the post.
As these posts are dependent on where the service user lives you will need be able to travel across Fife and ensure that you arrive at the time agreed with the Service user. We pay a mileage allowance for travel if you use your own car.
You will have good communication and written skills, be caring and enthusiastic with an understanding of the needs of service users. You will also be expected to contribute to and develop personal plans and liaise with service users, carers and other professional agencies.
As this is a new team you must be adaptable to change and very flexible and willing to work within a changing service and to try new ways of working.
