Glasgow Life is the charity responsible for inspiring Glasgow’s citizens and visitors to lead richer and more active lives through culture, sport and learning.

At Glasgow Life we believe in the transformational power of the services we provide for the citizens of and visitors to the City of Glasgow.  Glasgow Life has a significant role to play in ensuring Glasgow retains its position as a world class city following the 2014 Commonwealth Games.  We operate 160 venues across Glasgow including Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum, the Emirates Arena, Mitchell Library and the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall.  In addition we are proud to be responsible for Celtic Connections, the Glasgow Club and the City’s 32 local libraries.

The role of the General Manager is of significant importance and you will be responsible for managing all aspects of the operation of Scotstoun Sports Campus.  This includes the National Badminton Academy, Scotstoun Stadium, Scotstoun Leisure Centre and Victoria Park facilities.  You will be responsible for all aspects of performance plus financial and usage targets.  You will ensure that appropriate monitoring and reporting mechanisms are in place.  You will manage the relationships between Glasgow Life and various partner organisations including Glasgow Warriors Rugby Team, Scottish Athletics and Badminton Scotland.  You should have appropriate qualification in Stadium Safety and have experience of managing events.

To be successful in this role you will have extensive skills and experience in managing major sports venues.  You will need extensive experience in leading a Team and adhering to deadlines and financial responsibilities.  You will have a proven ability to understand the key operational requirements of the sports industry plus working in partnership with key stakeholders.  You will require strong leadership qualities and negotiation skills with the ability to be persuasive and open minded whilst remaining diplomatic in influencing key decisions and actions.  You will possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.  You will require a proven ability to liaise with and understand the delivery requirements of national and international federations and experience of managing major events.

Glasgow Life services are the top performing services delivered by or on behalf of Glasgow City Council.  Three of the top four scores for satisfaction are achieved by our services, including Museums and Art Galleries, Libraries and Sport and Leisure Facilities.  None of this would have been achieved without the considerable strength of our workforce – building on our commitment to make Glasgow a successful and vibrant city.
