Assessor & Electoral Registration Officer


The Lothian Valuation Joint Board is a Local Government organisation responsible for the maintenance of the Valuation Roll, Council Tax List and Electoral Register.

Lothian is the largest and most complex valuation authority in Scotland, with the greatest number and value of properties, and the largest population for Electoral registration purposes.  The Lothian Valuation Board provides services to four Councils: City of Edinburgh, East Lothian, Midlothian and West Lothian.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the development and delivery of the overall strategic objectives of Lothian Valuation Joint Board

In addition to the statutory duties relating to Valuation, Council Tax and Electoral Registration, you will advise the Board on all management, policy and legal issues.  You will be responsible for the management of a multi-functional office of over 100 full time staff, and a budget in excess of £6m.  You will also play a leading role in the Scottish Assessors' Association and have a high profile in the profession at a national level.

You will be a Fellow or Associate of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and have substantial post qualifying experience at a senior level in a valuation authority.
