Salary: Grade 4 Points to (£22,838 - £25,555 per annum pro rata)
West Lothian College seeks to appoint a Support for Learning Assistant to deliver support for learning in a variety of settings across the college curriculum. The successful post holder will be based in curriculum centres supporting learning in the classroom.
Ideally you should possess a qualification at SCQF Level 7 or above but consideration will be given to suitable applicants who are prepared to undertake such training. You should have considerable experience in supporting learners in a variety of settings. It would be an advantage to have a qualification or experience of diagnosing and supporting dyslexia, supporting learners on the autistic spectrum, BSL or supporting learners with mental health issues
To succeed in this role you will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to be supportive to each individual learner's circumstances and learning style. A key aspect of this role is to identify support needs and make referrals. This role will involve supporting students on a 1-1 basis, in a group situation and within a classroom setting.
