ROLE DEFINITION

To work with school staff to develop and deliver a wide range of opportunities to support the personal, social and educational development of young people, in and out of curriculum time.

KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Corporate Responsibilities

  • To undertake individual role in line with the Council's Strategic Priorities and in compliance with the Council's corporate policies and procedures.
  • To undertake any other reasonably required duties as instructed by Management or someone acting on their behalf, in addition to the role specific tasks & responsibilities detailed below.

Role Specific Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Prepare and deliver social education programmes to tackle issues relevant to young people as identified by school staff.
  • Work with young people to contribute and develop the Youth Citizenship and Participation agenda as directed by school staff.
  • Assist in the development of a range of youth groups to meet local need.
  • Assist school staff with the organisation and implementation of programmes and carry out administrative work in respect of these programmes, including transport when required
  • Transport young people to events, activities and programmes which contribute to their learning needs.
  • Maintain records relating to the meetings and programme plans.
  • To participate in self-evaluation framework and assist with the collection of evidence of improving standards and achievement.
  • Ensure young people have access to quality information services and where appropriate advice and counselling services.
  • Co-operate with other services, agencies and the voluntary sector to respond to the needs of local young people.
  • Deliver an outreach approach to ensure that services are targeted at risk of missing out young people who are part of Greenwood Academy community. Which willi nclude the safe travel of young people.
  • Ensure that programmes and activities have a menu accreditation options: i.e. Duke of Edinburgh etc.
  • Work in partnership with locality based youth workers to develop the link between school and community.
