Fife Council is the third largest authority in Scotland and the largest employer in Fife. The services we provide range from education, social work, housing and neighbourhood services to transportation, looking after the environment and developing the economy.
The Catering Division of Catering & Cleaning provides over 20,000 school meals per day. With a staff of approximately 900 we have the capacity, and capability, to provide a wide range of catering services e.g. from morning coffee to banquet dinners.
Responsible for all activities in a larger, high volume kitchen and its surrounds connected with the provision of a catering service which may include satellite services.
Fife Council pays the Scottish Local Government Living Wage Rate to employees earning less than £8.51 per hour. If the hourly rate of pay for the post is less than the Scottish Local Government Living Wage Rate a supplement will be paid.
Duties include portion control, provision of special dietary meals as directed, bookkeeping, control of hygiene, health and safety in the kitchen; ensuring maintenance and security of equipment, the direction and supervision of employees within the kitchen; and operation control of service.
Adherence to budget control.
You must be educated to City & Guilds 706 1 or 2 or equivalent and hold a valid Elementary Food Hygiene Certificate.
Before confirming appointment, you will be required to obtain PVG Scheme Membership through Disclosure Scotland.
The post holder may be required to perform duties, appropriate to the post. Duties and responsibilities may vary from time to time without changing the general character of the duties or the level of responsibility entailed. Variations are a common occurrence and as a result it will be necessary to update this job specification from time to time.
It is essential that you hold a current driving Licence as you will be asked to move from one establishment to another timeously and may require to use a Fife Council vehicle.
Some degree of flexibility in working arrangements may be required.
