The primary purpose of the role is to manage a legal case load and to give legal advice and guidance to officers and Members of Clackmannanshire Council. The cases you hold and advice you give will depend on your area of experience and specialism but may cover all matters which fall within the remit of the Legal team, including contract, conveyancing, employment and procurement in addition to specific local authority functions, such as education, social work and licencing. You should be comfortable in providing a broad range of advice and being able to identify when more specialist advice is required.
The Council is undergoing a period of major change under its "Taking Clackmannanshire Forward" programme and you may be asked to take part in service reviews or provide legal advice on various change options. The identification and promotion of change to improve the efficiency of council services in both your own area and more broadly across the Council is integral to all roles in the Council.
