This post is for a Broad General Education Teacher to work in a Special High School. Experience of working in an educational environment with young people with social, emotional and behavioural needs is essential, while experience of working with Young People with Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) would be desirable.
Gorgie Mills School opened February 2008 with 60 S1 to S5 young people all with varying degrees of social, emotional and behavioural needs. The school incorporates an Intensive Support Base for those young people with more complex needs and also an ASD Support Base for intensive nurturing. The school follows the Curriculum for Excellence
guidelines within the National Qualification frameworks. This is augmented by project-based learning techniques and is committed to a multi-agency approach to support our students' needs. We invite staff with initiative, who are flexible and would adopt a problem solving approach for our young people and their parents/carers, to apply for this post. You will need enthusiasm, energy, resilience and enjoy working with other agencies to provide the support our young people need.

Preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by the City of Edinburgh Council.
