Instructor in Railway Engineering

Main Location: Granton campus

Full Time: 35 hours per week

Permanent

Salary: Band F £25,387 - £27,241 per annum (pro rata) (please note the appointment is usually offered at the first point of the salary scale)

 


The Faculty of Engineering and Built Environment are looking for a committed, enthusiastic and experienced Instructor / Assessor in Railway Engineering to support and deliver NVQ Railway Engineering Maintenance within the Built Environment Team.

This post offers an opportunity to train and assess all aspects of Railway Engineering Maintenance qualifications to our full time students with a vision of offering apprenticeships in the future.

You may also be asked to support and deliver Construction Units across the Faculty.

Qualifications and experience:  

Essential

  • Occupationally competent in Railway Engineering Maintenance
  • Relevant qualification at SCQF 6 / 7
  • Relevant experience in the industry as a time served Railway engineer
  • Accreditation to work within the Railway Industry
  • A wide knowledge and experience of the curriculum area (craft/trade)

 

Desirable

  • Previous training and assessing experience would be desirable, although training will be given to a successful candidate
  • Basic knowledge of health and safety principles

 

The successful candidate may be required to work at any Edinburgh College campus.
