ROLE DEFINITION

To ensure public parks, playing fields and other spaces are maintained, developed and renewed by planting, clearing, pruning & renovating.



KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Corporate Responsibilities

  • To undertake individual role in line with the Council's Strategic Priorities and in compliance with the Council's corporate policies and procedures.
  • To undertake any other reasonably required duties as instructed by Management or someone acting on their behalf, in addition to the role specific tasks & responsibilities detailed below.

Role Specific Tasks & Responsibilities

  • General maintenance of open spaces using a wide range of hand tools and powered equipment
  • Border maintenance, grass cutting, hedge and shrub trimming, clearing leaves and litter
  • Developing and renewing landscapes by planting, clearing, pruning and renovating of overgrown areas
  • Constructural labouring work
  • Lining of sports grounds, erecting and dismantling sports and other equipment
  • Machinery maintenance

  • SVQ Level 1 in Horticulture, or equivalent

  • Experience in the use of powered hand tools and light plant associated with Grounds Maintenance
  • Experience of Gardening or Grounds Maintenance procedures and operations
