These checks are only undertaken with consent, and in accordance with our legal and regulatory obligations Business Area - Financial Management Location: Glasgow Role: Trainee Accountant Reporting to: Senior Group Accountant Hours of work - Monday to Friday, 9:00 - 5:30, however you will be required to work such hours as are necessary to carry out your duties Department/ Role Overview: Working within the wider Group Accounting and Reporting team, supporting the team with reconciliations of GL accounts, management accounts preparation and preparing various financial reports. The candidate should be extremely motivated and keen to pursue a professional accountancy qualification. The purpose of this role is to become a qualified Accountant Main responsibilities: Support both the UK and international accounting teams with: Maintaining and reconciling various balance sheet accounts General ledger maintenance, including monthly management accounts adjustments and cost allocations Reconciliation of inter-company balances across the global firm Global bad debt provisions calculations Revaluation of Trade Debtors Bank revaluations Preparing financial monthly reports Ad hoc requests as required Risk and Control: Ensure that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with our regulatory requires and internal policies. Essential skills and experience: The successful candidate will have an Accounting & Finance degree or similar. Working towards a professional accountancy qualification or motivated to do so. A solid understanding of accounting concepts Must be willing to undertake professional accountancy qualification which will be supported by the firm ( ACCA) Computer literate with a good understanding of financial and management information systems and highly numerate Strong working knowledge of Excel, ability to use formulas, pivot tables and undertake data analysis Excellent attention to detail Good delivery skills Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate clearly, orally or in writing with all levels of stakeholders and staff Ability to work on own initiative
