Head of Education

- Full Time
At Seamab our vision is to enable our children to have a childhood in which they feel safe, accepted and happy. We will create an environment in which all our children can heal, grow and learn.
Seamab is an established children's charity specialising in providing residential care and education for children who are looked after away from home, and have experienced significant trauma.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and skilled teacher to lead the development of education in Seamab and join the senior management team. It's essential you have a dynamic and flexible approach, and can apply this to the delivery of the Curriculum for Excellence in a primary setting. Working closely with the Chief Executive, you will be responsible for ensuring that we provide a curriculum that is relevant to the needs of all of our learners.
As the leader of learning and teaching, you will have a teaching commitment in the school. You will manage the teachers, speech and language therapist and occupational therapist. You will work closely with the Learning Coordinator to successfully engage children in the life of the school and support delivery of the twenty-four hour curriculum. Seamab has established an active and experiential approach to delivery of the curriculum and the Head of Education will have a lead role in developing innovative approaches.
The children at Seamab have experienced many difficulties in school before moving to Seamab. Most have been excluded and many have had little time in education. Our work with the children is based in developing positive relationships and providing positive experiences and is driven by our learning and caring philosophy. Dyadic Developmental Practice, a therapeutic framework, informs our work.
This is a unique and exciting opportunity for an individual to contribute to an established and developing charity and share our commitment to providing the best experiences and opportunities to children. We currently offer up to fifteen residential education placements and three day placements.
All applicants are expected to have a professional teaching qualification, which ideally will be in primary teaching, however we will also consider nursery and secondary teachers. You must have a full driving licence or a commitment to achieving this within an agreed timescale. Our benefits include membership of the Teachers' Pension and SNCT terms and conditions. We offer extensive training and development opportunities.
Interviews will take place on Wednesday the 11th of October. All shortlisted candidates will be invited to Seamab for an informal visit prior to interview.
