Lecturer in Providing Electronic Fire and Security

Main Location: Granton Campus

Part Time: 17. 5 hours per week (0.5 FTE)

Temporary until 12 August 2018

Salary: £35,644 to £37,765 per annum (pro rata) (please note the appointment is usually offered at the first point of the salary scale)

An opportunity exists within the Construction team for a committed and enthusiastic lecturer in Electronic Fire and Security to prepare, support and deliver Providing Electronic Fire and Security at SCQF level 6 within the construction team

This post offers an opportunity to train and assess all aspects of Electronic Fire and Security qualifications to our apprentices ranging from 1st to 3rd year levels.

You may be also asked to support and deliver Construction Units across the Institute.

Qualifications and experience:  


  • Occupationally competent in Electronic Fire and Security
  • Relevant proven multi discipline experience within the Fire and Security Industry
  • Qualification in Assessing
  • Qualifications at SCQF 6 / 7
  • A wide knowledge and experience of the curriculum area (craft/trade)
  • Basic knowledge of health and safety principles
  • Good PC skills



  • Previous training and assessing experience would be desirable, although training will be given to a successful candidate
  • 17th Edition electrical qualified
  • A current driving licence
  • A current CSCS card would be desirable



The successful candidate may be required to travel throughout Scotland at any Edinburgh College campus.
