Overview and main responsibilities

Develop and manage Regional Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality Programme.

Provide professional support and advice to the Senior Management Team and Staff on Occupational Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality matters. Ensuring any relevant changes are cascaded to Operational Health & Safety teams for implementation.

Provide an Assurance and Audit role in the company.

Assist staff and contractors in respect of compliance with relevant legislation, client standards and contractual arrangements relative to all Company activities.

Best practice approach to the Company's HSE requirements relevant to the development and consolidation of its LV, MV, HV and EHV services for internal mains and provision of above and below ground installations and electrical cable networks.

Drive the philosophy of safety ownership and quality throughout all levels of the organisation.

Engage staff and managers to maximise improvements in safety performance.

General Responsibilities

* Develop, review and monitor the SHEQ Plans objectives and targets.
* Provide positive leadership and promote the adoption of best practice.
* Responsible for developing, promoting and monitoring the SHEQ culture.
* Lead and direct functional management for any SHEQ personnel under your control
* Identify areas of risk and develop measures to reduce and control
* Identify initiatives to improve performance and assist in addressing areas of poor performance
* Produce Regional SHEQ performance reports as required
* Promptly alert line and functional management to significant accidents and incidents
* Responsible for reviewing accident and incident SHEQ reports and investigations
* Monitoring and implementation of any relevant SHEQ statutory or legislative changes
* Develop, control and implementation of the company's accreditation requirements
* Adhere to the Company's Code of Conduct, as revised from time to time
* Portray a positive attitude in line with our Company values
* Complete monthly reports to the Management Team as required
* Be proactive with ideas and suggestions
* Follow all procedures within the company minimising any business risks
* Put forward suggestions for improvement of any processes
* Identify training needs for yourself
* Identify any issue you have and discuss with your line manager

Essential Key Skills and Qualities

* Strong interpersonal skills
* Valid Driving Licence
* Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
* Confidentiality of sensitive material
* Good PC skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) ERP System knowledge would be an advantage
* Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
* Ability to work on own initiative and to act as an effective team member
* Well developed skills in organising and planning work activity
* Able to develop good customer relations while maintaining full confidentiality
* Significant experience in safety and environment within the utility industry
* Environmental Diploma
* Educated to degree standard or equivalent professional qualification in related subject
* Extensive experience in Utility/Contractor business working with LV/HV/EHV apparatus
* Member of a relevant professional institute/chartered status
* Experience of working in a fast paced environment
* Proactive with new ideas for efficiencies, improvements
* Good health and safety knowledge and practices
