Passionate about improving children's outcomes? Looking for an inspiring challenge? North Ayrshire Health and Social Care Partnership is creating a new team with ambitious plans, utilising new approaches that will make real differences to improving children's lives.

The successful applicants will be integral to newly formed multi-disciplinary teams working within three key projects to improve outcomes for looked after/looked after and accommodated children and families who need extra support.    

Partnership working and team thinking will be crucial to the success of this whole system approach: it's about 'thinking differently' and 'doing differently' to achieve better outcomes for our children and young people.

 



ROLE DEFINITION

 

To provide support and guidance, working directly with children and families with the supervision and support of senior staff and/or the Lead Professional.

 



KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Corporate Responsibilities

  • To undertake individual role in line with the Council's Strategic Priorities and in compliance with the Council's corporate policies and procedures.
  • To undertake any other reasonably required duties as instructed by Management or someone acting on their behalf, in addition to the role specific tasks & responsibilities detailed below.

 

Role Specific Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Develop good working relationships with the family with a clear focus on the needs of the child.
  • Provide advice on managing money.
  • Provide support and advice in relation to shopping, healthy eating, cooking and planning meals.
  • Encourage parents to play with their children so they can learn and develop more quickly.
  • To facilitate parents and families to have a positive impact on their child's attainment and achievement.
  • To provide support and advice to high risk pregnancies.
  • To build parental confidence and capacity to support their child's learning and increase their engagement and participation in school life.
  • Facilitate integration and mainstream provision, including Early Years Centres, other community based resources and universal services.  
  • Help establish and maintain routines with parents, in order to make the home environment safe, nurturing and predictable for their children.
  • Provide advice and support on home safety and keeping children safe.
  • Provide advice and support in relation to health, hygiene and keeping a house clean.
  • Provide advice and support to encourage parents to attend health and addiction services appointments, including health appointments for their children.
  • Liaise with a variety of different agencies to facilitate positive outcomes for parents and children.
  • Contribute to the maintenance of case records and ensure that these are accurate.
  • Undertake training and development appropriate to the role.
  • Attend and participate in team meetings and other meetings as deemed appropriate.

  • HNC or SVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care, or equivalent qualification recognised by the SSSC or relevant experience in a health or social care setting
