The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service would like to invite applications for the post of Fire Engineer based at our West Service Delivery Area HQ, Hamilton.
This is a key role and will have responsibility for providing specialist technical advice to internal SFRS personnel and external partner agencies on the suitability of design submissions or proposals, ensuring the highest standards of fire safety and fire engineering within design projects are adhered to.
Applicants must hold a Fire Engineering degree or equivalent qualification and be able to demonstrate an awareness of SFRS statutory responsibilities relevant to the role.
The successful candidate must be able to effectively manage competing demands and time pressures and must demonstrate excellent communication, persuasion and influencing skills and be able to evidence experience of partnership working with external agencies including local and national government.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills together with effective planning and time management skills are essential. Applicants require to be proficient in the use of appropriate ICT equipment and Microsoft office applications. The role requires a full UK Driving licence and a flexible approach, as there is a requirement to travel across Scotland to attend meetings etc.

Salary on appointment will normally be at the lower salary point, with progression subject to regular review - in line with the SFRS performance appraisal arrangements. A higher salary placing will be considered in exceptional circumstances subject to experience demonstrated.
