To manage a team delivering assessments, both short-term and long-term social work services to children and young people who require protection and/or support, and their families.  



Fife Council pays the Scottish Local Government Living Wage Rate to employees earning less than £8.33 per hour. If the hourly rate of pay for the post is less than the Scottish Local Government Living Wage Rate a supplement will be paid.


Professional qualification in Social Work

Member of Scottish Social Services Council

Before confirming appointment, you will be required to obtain Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme Membership through Disclosure Scotland

Workers new to role must gain registration with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) within six months of start date in this role


Resource Management

Monitor the use of resources to ensure the most effective and efficient delivery of service.

Quality Control

Monitor the performance of the team and its individual members, to ensure that the highest quality of service is being provided to service users within the Council's standards and frameworks.

Staff Development and Monitoring

Ensure that all staff under line management control are inducted into the service and receive adequate supervision and training for the task.

Financial Management

Monitor and effectively manage a devolved budget.

Service Development

To contribute to the development and modernisation of services. To participate in service planning and evaluation to ensure developments reflect assessed needs. 

The Individual

Extensive post qualifying experience with children and families

Managing Child Protection work

Staff supervision and appraisal

Staff recruitment and selection

Chairing complex inter-agency meetings

Managing complaints

Knowledge of relevant legislation

Knowledge of relevant national policies, procedures and practice issues

Knowledge of child development, attachment, therapeutic approaches in childcare

Assessment skills

Effective crisis intervention skills

Staff supervision skills

Ability to work positively and closely with other agencies.
