We are looking for an experienced and motivated individual to join us as Programmes Manager and deliver effective area-based programmes that improve the life chances of children from low income households and to work with others to fight the unacceptable consequences of children living in poverty.

Working in more than 120 countries, we do whatever it takes to create breakthroughs in the way the world treats children. Our UK and Global Programmes department delivers humanitarian and development programmes, builds partnerships with institutional donors - including governments, multi-laterals and trusts - and drives lasting change. Together, we save children's lives, fight for their rights and help them fulfil their potential.

As Programmes Manager, you will build strong partnerships and relationships in the allocated areas with school, statutory organisations and local and national organisations and develop a clear understanding of the areas to ensure high quality programmes are delivered and ensure our programmes are sustainable. You will also gather programme data to support programme monitoring, evaluation and development. In addition you will:

Ensure programmes are coordinated and delivered to a consistently high standard across the UK through effective collaboration with UK Programme central teams
Build relationships with families, supported by the central accountability function, to support improving existing programmes, development of new programmes and to create strong policy, advocacy and campaigns work
Support effective financial planning, including budget monitoring, donor reporting and contributing to funding applications
Contribute to fundraising activities and co-ordinate donor engagement visits and events.

To be successful you will have excellent knowledge and experience of coordinating and delivering a range of programmes within agreed outcomes, timescale, budgets and targets. You will have an understanding of the nature and impact that poverty has on children, families and neighbourhoods, and the barriers that local communities face in seeking to bring about positive change in outcomes. In addition you will have:

Experience developing, implementing and delivering programmes that work with children, young people and families living on low income families
Knowledge of public policy and practice, and issues affecting children, young people and their families in Scotland - ideally in relation to child poverty
Excellent project management skills including planning, delivery, impact and evaluation
The ability to develop and sustain excellent networks and working relationships with partner agencies and other stakeholders including parents, funders and supporters of Save the Children
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English in order to influence a wide variety of people including senior managers, external strategic contacts and children and young people.

At Save the Children we are committed to the safeguarding and protection of children in our work. We will do everything possible to ensure that only those who are suitable to work with children are recruited to work for us. This post is subject to a range of vetting checks including a criminal records disclosure.

Our mission is to inspire breakthroughs in the way the world treats children and to achieve immediate and lasting change in their lives. If you share our mission, are passionate about making it happen and strongly believe you can contribute then join us and we'll give you every opportunity to succeed. We look forward to hearing from you.
