Vendor Due Diligence Specialist Fixed Term Contract 12 months - Edinburgh

Salary: Competitive salary dependent on experience

Sanderson are recruiting a Vendor Due Diligence Specialist on behalf of one of the UK's leading asset management organisations.. This is an exciting time to join a well established, forward thinking business during an exciting period of growth.

Based in the Edinburgh office and reporting to the Head of Vendor Due Diligence, this role is both technical and customer facing as well as encompassing a degree of project management. You will be providing quantitative and qualitative analysis on due diligence activities to the Third Party Oversight plan. The role will include the co-ordination and facilitation of commercial aspects of third party contracts where applicable, and also the coordination of audit and depositary visits and information requirements on behalf of Operations.

The role holder will be a detail oriented self-starter who can work effectively in a fast paced environment with minimal supervision. Improving processes and efficiencies is expected through proactive and forward thinking along with balancing risk mitigation and regulatory oversight.

Responsibilities:

  • Be subject matter expert in vendor management risk reviews, tiering of vendors, ongoing management in line withGroup Outsourcing Framework and TPO standards
  • Complete risk assessments and DDQs at the frequency required, including review and sign off, highlighting any gaps or control issues are they arise
  • Perform and report on the quality control with Operations key suppliers and outsourcers against the TPO vendor management program
  • Perform periodic testing of vendor compliance to program goals
  • Be sufficiently versed on vendor due diligence and assessment mechanisms to effectively liaise with subject matter experts to provide guidance. Provide support and expertise to the functional teams on vendor management and selection
  • Able to coordinate and complete due diligence site visits and evidence through audit preparedness oversight and due diligence of operations key suppliers and outsourcers
  • Monitor completion of action plans; working with the business owners as required
  • Continuously work to streamline vendor management process to provide optimal client experience to internal partners while balancing risk
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to facilitate vendor risk process
  • Support the TPO desk by obtaining additional knowledge in the Vendor Management, Financial Services with emphasis on Financial Services Risk measures such as SSAE 16, ISO Certifications, SIG assessments and other industry standards. Continue to stay on top of industry trends in terms of vendor management and risk management. Continually look for ways to better the business Vendor Management Desk with industry knowledge
  • Ensure that service providers are continually monitored and reviewed, including review of appropriate management information, internal controls reporting and relevant board reporting coordinating with relevant internal departments
  • Working with the functional business owners carry out initial due diligence of new suppliers and new services from existing suppliers as appropriate and in line with the Global Outsourcing Framework
  • Plan and prioritise a schedule of due diligence visits for suppliers in line with the defined approach and taking account of any required reprioritisation
  • Plan and execute due diligence visits using agreed standardised approach including Terms of Reference, agenda, sample testing, policies and procedures, system demos, BCP arrangements concluding with reports and minutes for internal and external use as appropriate, in line with the business Outsourcing Framework and Group policies
  • Support the wider TPO function to move core service provision from a Quality Control to Quality Assurance oversight model
  • Building and development of relationships with internal groups and providers
  • Assist in the coordination and completion of client due diligence of Operations as required
  • To meet with team manager(s) to ensure that agreed targets are being met and projects are progressing in line with agreed timescales
  • Coordination of review of service provider internal control reports (AAF/ISAE3402 etc), including the analysis and closure of identified exceptions
  • Contribute to the development of a phased transformation plan for Third Party Oversight department

Skills, knowledge and experience:

  • 1 - 3 years of experience in an Risk/Audit/Control function either within an audit firm role or financial services firm
  • Prior Third party risk/Vendor Risk/Supplier Risk experience is an advantage
  • Understanding of contract and approval documentation for RFPs, MSAs etc
  • Project Management: Ability to manage initiatives and projects, self-starter
  • Knowledge of relevant regulatory guidelines, vendor management, Sourcing and Procurement, Financial Services, completing assessments of vendors
  • Proven and demonstrable experience in financial services firm/audit firm operational risk and/or corporate governance
  • Excellent communication skills (oral, visual and written)
