ASSISTANT ACCOUNTANT | FIFE | TEMPORARY

Avenue have a fantastic opportunity for an Assistant Accountant to work on a contract basis with our client, a leading European manufacturer in Fife. Immediate start available.

The Role
This position is for up to 3 months and is 40 hours per week. The role forms a key part of the finance team.

Systems used - BAAN (main financial system) and Excel.

Responsibilities

*Compile international subsidiaries accounts and reconcile them to the external advisors in the regions. Ensure all transactions are recorded accurately and timely.

*Prepare balance sheet reconciliations in accordance with accounting standards, identifying any discrepancies and ensuring accounts are accurate

*Cover as needed or assist with preparation of UK management accounts and balance sheet reconciliations. Cover bank reconciliations/GRNI/VAT and Intrastat return and assist with all accounting duties as needed.

*Cover financial reporting

*Prepare capital expenditure requests and financials, compile monthly reports on capital spend and compare to budget and host a monthly review of requested capital submissions. To update the asset registers and calculate depreciation so journal entries can be posted in accounts. Conduct post investment appraisal reviews and initiate a quarterly asset count on a pareto basis. To prepare the budget capital requests summary. Ensure disposals are captured and recorded.

*To review, analyse and produce accurate reporting of cost savings programmes throughout the business

*To produce and drive slow moving stock reports and meetings, ensuring actions are followed up to ensure reduction of any scrapping / obsolescence.

*To reconcile consigned stock to the suppliers monthly highlighting any differences and ensuring any discrepancies resolved.

*To help drive and support the implementation of the new Pricing Strategy as a key member of the Project Team.

*To assist in efficiency and automation projects within the Finance function.

*To assist in the budget and year end preparations.

The Candidate

Essential

*A team player with a positive attitude
*Advanced user of Excel
*Excellent experience with stock and fixed asset management/reporting
*Strong oral and written communication skills - must be confident and articulate
*Ability to present data to a mixed (non-financial) audience
*Able to operate in a fast-paced environment and work to challenging deadlines
*Strong experience in analysing large amounts of data, identifying key trends/points
*Significant experience in accounting and financial duties

Desirable

*Previous experience working in a manufacturing environment preferred
*Experience using the BAAN financial system
*Degree in Finance/Part-Qualified in Accounting preferred
