An opportunity has arisen for further education students currently studying towards a degree or equivalent qualification in an IT related discipline to gain experience working with Perth and Kinross Council's Information Technology team, based in Carpenter House.
Successful candidates will be expected to be flexible in their approach and may be asked to support a number of projects / workstreams including hardware installs, desktop rollouts, VOIP telephony roll out and equipment audits. Applicants will be interested in applying / developing their IT support skills and knowledge and must be highly motivated, good team workers and capable of taking responsibility for challenging workloads. Able to offer a minimum of 1 day a week to work within the team.
Hours of work will be by agreement in advance and will be dependant on availability / service resource requirements / skillsets required to successfully take forward various IT projects and workstreams.
The main accountabilities for the post will be working within a team assisting in the installation, configuration, maintenance and support of ICT equipment, peripherals and standard software. Provide first line support to log / prioritise / resolve incoming user queries and faults via an IT Helpdesk. Assist in the maintenance of the Council's ICT asset register, including carrying out on site audits. System data input. Undertake other duties allocated as and when required. Provide written and oral progress reports when requested
The interview will consist of questions from a panel and a technical test. The successful candidate will be appointed depending on references and PVG check being completed.
