Business Area - Financial Management

Role: Financial Analysis Manager

Location: Based at Ashurst's Glasgow office. There will be a requirement for some travel to the firm's London office

Hours of work - 37.5 hours per week Monday to Friday, working 8.5 hours a day including an hour for lunch, between the hours of 09:00 - 17:30 However, you will be required to work such hours as are necessary to carry out your duties.

Department/ Role Overview: Support senior management in developing the firm's strategy by managing the Financial Analysis team which; is responsible for the provision of financial reporting, insight and analysis to support decision making by business owners and stakeholders across the organisation supports the development of the firm's financial reporting framework and processes provides finance expertise and project management resource for finance and non-finance related projects.

Main responsibilities:

Supervise the review and analysis of operating unit financial performance across the firm, liaising with Finance Business Managers, Managing Partners and Heads of Function as appropriate
Supervise and undertake the completion of ad hoc analysis and reporting in response to requests for information from partners and senior management
Responsible for providing pertinent internal financial analysis of client relationships for users across the firm, including partners and the Business Development team
Supervise the provision of finance expertise to manage and resource selected finance and cross-functional projects
Monitor external economic and industry trends and assess in the context of the firm's performance and business information needs
Liaise with, and take direction from, the Finance Director and Head of Commercial Finance to develop and deliver management information and reporting
Build effective cross-departmental relationships to improve communication and understanding of information needs across the business
Assist in the education of users of financial information
Responsible for the day to day management and professional development of all members of the Financial analysis team

Risk and Control: Ensure that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with our regulatory requires and internal policies.

Essential skills and experience:

Proven experience and success in a similar role within a professional services organisation
Proven experience and success managing projects and being part of project teams
Previous experience of managing a team
Ability to demonstrate sound understanding of the professional services business model
Advanced analytical skills
Relevant accounting qualification
Accounting experience/background advantageous
Computer literate with a strong understanding of financial and management information systems
Highly numerate with excellent attention to detail
Excellent delivery skills, ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the business
Strong client relationship skills
Experience of business intelligence tools and report development/testing would be an advantage
