We are looking for an enthusiastic and well-motivated Senior Social Work Practitioner. The successful candidate will work closely with Community Mental Health Team Operational Manager and will have professional supervision from the Principal Social Worker, Adult Services.

Recently voted the best place to live in Scotland, Orkney is the second most northerly of the islands areas, with 17 inhabited islands. Although geographically remote, Orkney is easily accessible by air or boat and has a cosmopolitan community with immense historical and cultural impact. From food to sports, music to technology, Orkney has a reputation for excellence and award winning. Scotland's smallest local authority enjoys unique opportunities for collaboration with partner agencies and is committed to developing innovative approaches to joint work with the Health Service (NHS Orkney) and Local authority via the Integrated joint Board (IJB) Orkney Health and Care.

We demand high standards and support continuing professional development and national involvement. Accredited training opportunities are made available and a generous package including a relocation allowance is provided to help you resettle here.

The islands offer - and our services must sustain - a unique quality of life for all the people who live here.

The successful candidate will work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team to deliver service user focused mental health services ensuring the highest standards of service.

The successful candidate will have a social work qualification and be registered as a social worker with the SSSC. A Mental Health Officer qualification is also essential to this post. In addition, a commitment to continuous professional development is essential.

Previous experience in a social work front line management role would be beneficial as would experience of supervising social workers.

This post is subject to membership of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme in respect of regulated work with adults and children.

Prospective applicants are invited to discuss the post by contacting Angela Colborn-Veitch, Operational Manager on 01856 888280 or email angela.colborn-veitch@nhs.net.

Closing date: Sunday 27 August 2017

Please note that interview expenses will be paid for this post.
