The Association for Public Service Excellence (APSE) is a networking community that assists local authorities who are striving to improve their frontline services.

APSE works with over 250 local authorities across the UK advising and sharing information and expertise on a broad range of frontline public services including advice, research, consultancy, benchmarking, and training.

Research and Coordination Officer (Hamilton)

  • 6 months fixed term maternity cover (potential to extend)
  • Salary £20,661 per annum (pro rata)

APSE is seeking to appoint an experienced individual to complement the existing team based in Hamilton. The post holder will be required to assist in the coordination of membership activity including seminars, advisory groups and events. They will have a good understanding of the complexities of local government and the current issues and challenges, they will conduct research into current Local Government best practice, issues and developments.

The post holder will be required to assist in the production of briefing papers and research. In addition they will support the Principal Advisor in delivering a high quality advisory service to the membership.

The ideal candidate will have a good understanding of Local Government including housing, highways, environment, facilities management or leisure on an operational or policy basis. They will also have experience of running successful topical events.

The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic, self motivated and charismatic champion for APSE. He / she will be able to demonstrate a commitment to front line public services as well as the ability to network with colleagues and local government peers. The ability to present information clearly, orally and in writing, is also essential.

The post is based in Hamilton.
