Childcare Practitioner (FIF05581)
Work Pattern: 22.5 hours per week, 4.5 hours per day, Monday to Friday

Childcare Practitioners are responsible for planning, organising and taking part in play and leisure activities for groups of children and young people aged between 4 and 14 years.
The work is varied involving activities ranging from art, crafts or drama, to taking children on outings, and from cookery to outdoor games or active sports.
Fife Council pays the Scottish Local Government Living Wage Rate to employees earning less than £8.33 per hour. If the hourly rate of pay for the post is less than the Scottish Local Government Living Wage Rate a supplement will be paid.
You must be eligible to register with SSSC as a Practitioner and either hold an SVQ Level 3 in Playwork, SVQ 3 Social Services (Children and Young People) at SCQF Level 7, HNC Early Education and Childcare or be willing to work towards qualifications that will help you to maintain your registration.
You will normally be based in a single location but may be required to cover at other clubs in the area or to relocate to meet the needs of the Service.
Although a part time post during term time, you may be required to work additional hours during in service days and holidays.
Before confirming appointment, you will be required to obtain Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme membership through Disclosure Scotland and become a member of the relevant PVG scheme.
You will be expected to provide full care for children including the delivery to school following Breakfast Club or collection from school in the afternoon.
You will assist in the preparation and service of snacks / refreshments for the children.
You will supervise the children in your care and where appropriate, engage in play activities with the children, actively encouraging the children’s participation at all times.
There may be times when you have to deal sensitively and appropriately with children and young people who may display challenging behaviour.
Experience of working with children aged 4 – 14 years in a play, care or learning environment e.g. an educational setting, nursery, voluntary organisation such as Scouting/ Guiding or Youth Work coupled with knowledge of the National Care Standards.
