The Employability and Skills Service are looking for a temporary team member in Nithsdale to work with us to achieve our service and partnership objectives. The role will support the delivery of Opportunities for All Activity Agreements up to March 2017 by providing support to people from vulnerable circumstances who are likely to require specialist support in their progression towards quality employment. The post holder will work with individuals on a 121 and group work basis, supporting them across the Strategic Skills Pipeline in to a positive destination, working with internal and external support agencies and training and education providers.
You will be qualified to SVQ Level 3 in welfare, guidance, social work, community learning & development or equivalent as well as 2 years relevant work experience, which should include experience in working with individuals to identify and address barriers to progression. You will be proficient in Microsoft office packages and be an excellent communicator and be able to liaise with a wide range of individuals, projects and agencies.
You will be required to be a confident, highly motivated and enthusiastic individual with the ability to manage caseloads and work independently.
This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council.
Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if offered a position, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check, will be required to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the country or countries in which they were resident.
A current driving licence is an essential requirement of this post. However, if you have a disability which precludes you from holding a driving licence consideration will be given if alternative transport can be arranged.
This is a temporary post for a period up to the 31st March 2017. This post may be suitable for secondment. Agreement from your line manager must be sought before applying for this post.
