Provide assistance and direct support to vulnerable families and children in the community in line with their best interests while working within the appropriate legislative framework and Aberdeenshire Councils procedures and guidance.

There is a responsibility for the post holder to demonstrate a commitment to quality service delivery through continuous improvement for the benefit of the Service and the organisation

This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. A confirmed offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.

Responsibilities

Provide assistance and direct support to families/carers and children in the community in line with their best interests while working within the appropriate legislative framework and Aberdeenshire Councils procedures and guidance.
There is a responsibility for the post holder to demonstrate a commitment to quality service delivery through continuous improvement for the benefit of the Service and the organisation

• Contribute to written reports, assessments with appropriate advice, guidance and support.
• Participate in meetings where appropriate
• Establish working relationships with parents/carers and children in order to offer advice, support and guidance
• Participate in planned work alone and with colleagues from Social Work and/or other agencies
• Participate in professional supervision and training
• Assist in managing crises
• Record any contact with or in respect of children, young people or their families on in line with Aberdeenshire Council’s Guidance.
• Undertake other duties as required relating to supporting families and children in their care
