Based at Renfrewshire House, Cotton Street, Paisley.


The principal role of the Senior Mechanical Engineer will be to provide a professional Mechanical/Building Services consultancy service, project management expertise in support of and as an integral member of Property Services to deliver projects across the council.


You will provide an individual point of expertise within a multi-disciplined Engineering Team where projects shall vary, both in value and complexity, from simplistic small scale to multi-million pound investment projects across the Council estate. Projects shall also be a mix of individual Engineering only projects to that of multi-disciplined projects being integral to a construction design team.


You will have post qualifying experience within the construction industry, delivering the full range of professional duties consistent with qualification and position. Experience of using design software such as Hevacomp, AutoCAD is essential as is broad working experience of contract types such as JCT and NEC.


You will have the ability to project manage with minimum supervision and to deliver service within a multi discipline design team. A working knowledge of current legislation and design guides and implementation of current energy efficiency/sustainability initiatives is essential.

You will have an understanding of best value through design and specification and an awareness of current Health & Safety legislation. You will be proactive in respect to decision making and innovative solutions along with the ability to represent the Council/Department at all levels. You will have the ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written) and be customer focused.


You must be a Chartered member of a recognised professional body and hold a degree in Mechanical and/or Building Services Engineering.


A working understanding/knowledge of the implementation of BIM and the use of Revit design software is desirable.


A full driving licence and use of your own transport is desirable.
