Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the support and development of the desktop estate across Fife Council. This post sits within the Access and Mobile Team responsible for desktop build, software deployment and Active Directory group policy. Key systems within this area include Microsoft System Centre Configuration Manager and Microsoft Application Virtualisation.

The role consists of the operation and control of the BTS infrastructure (typically hardware, software, data stored on various media, and all equipment within wide and local area networks) required to deliver and support BTS services and products to meet the needs of a business.

Includes preparation for new or changed services, operation of the change process, the maintenance of regulatory, legal and professional standards, the building and management of systems and components and the monitoring of performance of systems and services in relation to their contribution to business performance, their security and their sustainability.

The development and exploitation of expertise in any specific area of information or communications technology, technique, method, product or application area.

Fife Council pays the Scottish Local Government Living Wage Rate to employees earning less than £8.33 per hour. If the hourly rate of pay for the post is less than the Scottish Local Government Living Wage Rate a supplement will be paid.



Requirements

Educated to SCQF level 8 which includes HND or SVQ level 4 or equivalent in a relevant subject or equivalent experience. Link here to the SCQF Framework www.scqf.org.uk/framework-diagram.

Substantial understanding of the ICT Industry.

Organisational knowledge and understanding of the council environment.

Considerable knowledge and experience in one or more business functions.

Before confirming appointment, you will be required to obtain a Baseline Personnel Screening Check (BPSS).



Responsibilities

The main focus of this post will be to assist in the developing of the desktop strategy under the remit of Business Technology Solutions. The post holder will also be responsible for supporting and supervising the team to ensure a high standard of work is produced.



The Individual

The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic self-starter with the right blend of technical and business skills. They will understand the strategic direction of the council and have the capability to turn the vision into a reality. The candidate should embrace the current changes in the organisation and have a strong resilience to the challenges that will arise.

They will have experience in:

• Microsoft’s SCCM and App-V environments
• Windows 7 and 10 operating systems
• Microsoft Active Directory
• Mentoring and coordinating work within a team, including the evaluation of completed work.
• Collaborative working.
• Developing sustainable support solutions around the customer requirements, focusing on efficiency and value.
