MSS Recruitment are working on behalf of a global multidisciplinary consultancy who require a Infrastructure Engineer to based in Edinburgh.

The Development Infrastructure team specialises in providing high level advice to mainly private sector clients on planning and design issues relating to Highways, Public Realm, Sewerage, SUDS, Building Drainage, Earthworks, Flood Protection and Services Co-ordination and Utilities Diversion on Residential, Retail, Industrial and Commercial Developments both in the UK and overseas.
The team also works closely with other disciplines on high profile major multi-disciplinary projects, contributing to the success of the Glasgow and Edinburgh based teams.

Core Functions:
You will provide day to day support in the delivery of concept studies / strategies with hands on design, leading to planning applications or construction drawing issue.
This role would involve contributions to all types of DI projects across all sectors and clients.
You can expect to be active on a number of project/client accounts at any given time. You will be supported by a team of experienced technical staff of various grades, to whom you will be expected to provide guidance and support as appropriate.
The position may also involve client and design team liaison and some project management duties(depending on your level of experience)
You will be responsible, or actively engaged depending on experience, for ensuring your projects are delivered to budget, programme and technical standards and meet QA, CDM and HSE requirements.

PDS and Windows (Software Packages) - Residential and Commerical work. Civils 3D would be an extra bonus but not necessary.

Preferred Qualifications / Education / Work Experience:
You will ideally have post graduate (or equivalent) experience and either have been awarded or nearing Chartered or Incorporated status (CEng, IEng, MICE, MCIHT), or have equivalent commercial experience and responsibility.

You should be able to demonstrate a knowledge of, and experience in highway design, hydraulics and hydrology, flood risk assessment and management, drainage design and preferably utility design as well as a wide knowledge of the Development Industry.

You will be able to produce masterplans, site appraisals, technical reports, design calculations and construction drawings.

You will have a good knowledge of the relevant design codes such as Sewers for Scotland, DMRB, Manual for Streets and Local Authority Design Guides, be well versed in the preparation of drawings for Contract Documents and technical approvals.

You will need to have good written and spoken communication skills and be aware of current and emerging technical and planning guidance on climate change and sustainability. You will be able to use or direct and check the use of relevant software including WINDES and PDS/C3D.

At Senior Engineer level, to progress further you will also need to have experience of liaison with clients, co-professionals and design teams, and be competent in liaising with highway, water, statutory and local authorities to negotiate the necessary outline and detailed technical approvals.

You will have a good knowledge of the legal processes, planning, design, design software, technical consents process, adoption and contract procedures for the provision of sewers, SUDS, highways and utilities in new developments and regeneration projects and how if, applied effectively, these skills combine to add value to a client's development proposal.

You will also have a robust knowledge of the financial and contractual aspects of planning, bidding, and delivering both large and small projects.

Behaviour: Probably from a Consultancy or Development background with a bias on private sector work. Ability to seek clarity of instructions, check own work before submitting for approval, agree and meet timescales for items of work
