Head Teacher, Dedridge Primary School, 35 hours per week, closing date 4th December 2016
Dedridge Primary is a non-denominational primary school serving east Dedridge and the surrounding community. Glenview Nursery School sits within the school grounds and the schools are jointly led by the same head teacher. The school sits within the James Young High School cluster. At present, the school roll is 181 pupils in addition to a nursery provision for 30 children in both morning and afternoon. The nursery also has provision for 10 two year olds in the morning and afternoon and flexi provision for 16 children. The school has an autism spectrum disorder resource which has provision for 24 children. The staff consists of the head teacher, depute head teacher, principal teacher for the autism resource, another principal teacher who is currently based in the nursery and twelve class teachers. A specialist teacher delivers PE and cluster schools benefit from a shared active schools coordinator. The school has a visiting specialist for brass and woodwind instruction one day per week for pupils from primary 5 to primary 7. There are 2 part-time support for learning teachers working with pupils across all stages of the school. There are 9 pupil support workers who support learners across the school. Staff demonstrate strong collegiality and teamwork and this maintains the positive climate for learning in the school.
Dedridge Primary is currently developing strong partnerships with parents and carers. There are good links with the local community. The school currently sits in decile 2 according to the Scottish Index of Multiple Deprivation.
This session, the priority for improvement is to develop excellence through raising attainment and achieving equity and the areas for development will be:
- Raising attainment in numeracy ensuring equity for all learners
- Raising attainment through further embedding and developing learning, teaching and assessment processes and practices across the school
