The applicant will be required to work out with normal hours, including on stand by / call out, and will be required to take part in winter maintenance operations.

Responsibilities

Assist, generally as part of a team, in the maintenance and construction of Roads and Drains

The applicant will be required to work out with normal hours, including on stand by / call out, and will be required to take part in winter maintenance operations.

• Undertake skilled operations connected with roads and drains
• Driving of vehicles requiring specialist driving skills
• Operate powered heavy plant ensuring compliance to Health and Safety legislation
• Accurate completion, in line with corporate standards, of all documentation relating to vehicle legislation
• Comply with all current legislation and Aberdeenshire Council practices in relation to duties
• Maintain vehicle/equipment in clean and serviceable manner. Record all defects on the vehicle defect form and inform your line manager



The Individual

Essential Criteria
• LGV Licence
• Experience of roadworks, civil engineering or within the construction industry
• Smart Card 
• Experience of construction plant
• Awareness of Health & Safety issues
• Ability to work as part of the team
• Ability to work on your own without compromising efficiency
• Ability to participate in winter maintenance operations 

Desirable Criteria
• Experience of road maintenance
• Experience of winter maintenance operations
• HAUC Certificate
• Knowledge of Chapter 8 Signing
• C&G Certificate in winter maintenance
• NVQ level 2 in road maintenance
• Kerbing experience
