18.75 hours per week, Shift working over 7 days
£20,737 - £21,882 pro rata (including Shift Allowance and Distant Islands Allowance)

The Home Care service adopts a re-ablement model of service provision. We have moved away from the task and time approach, and ‘doing to’ or ‘doing for’ to a ‘doing with’ and maximising service users long term independence and quality of life. The service now uses Goal planning to re-able the service user to learn or relearn daily living skills and thus maximise their independence.
Homecare work is both challenging and varied, and under guidance and support from the Social Care Coordinators, you will enable individuals to achieve as much independence as possible.
This post would ideally suit someone who has recent work experience in the social care field or similar. You will need the sort of personality that enjoys interacting with people and making a difference to their lives. If you are motivated, caring, honest, have a true desire to ‘work with’ people and have a sense of fun, then this could be the job for you and we are waiting to hear from you.
You should hold SVQ 2 in Health and Social Care (Adults), or equivalent level qualification, or be willing to work towards achieving this within 3 years of appointment.
The post is subject to Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme in respect of regulated work with adults.
You will be expected to travel efficiently and effectively between various work locations within Orkney to meet the operational requirements of the Service.
The successful applicant will be required to undertake a compulsory two-week induction training programme.
