Family Support Worker

30 hours per week
Temporary up to 31 March 2017
£22,180 - £24,067/£24,768 - £27,187 (including shift allowance and Distant Islands Allowance)

A vacancy exists for a part-time post in the Children & Families Service within Orkney Health and Care, based at the Council Offices and at the Children’s Residential Service.

You will be providing intensive support through the week, on a rota basis, to a young person who is living independently in the community, assisting them with independent living skills and supporting them in education/training opportunities. In addition there may be a requirement for you to provide additional support to the Family Support Team or the Children’s Residential Service.

The post holder will be required to lone work whilst being supported from the Children’s Residential Service.

Qualities required of the successful applicant are a non-judgemental attitude, acceptance of others, confidence and good communication skills.

To be appointed at G5
You should have a good general standard of education including literacy and numeracy AND be prepared to achieve an HNC in Social Care and SVQ3 Social Services (Children & Young People) within 3 years of taking up appointment.

For appointment at G6
You should hold an HNC in Social Care and SVQ3 Social Services (Children & Young People).

This post is subject to membership of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme in respect of regulated work with children.
