School Support Assistant (FIF05282)
Working Pattern: 22.5 hours per week, (Monday - Friday 4.5 hours per day), 39 weeks per year
Contract Duration: Temporary until 30 June 2017
Interview Date: Week commencing 3 October 2016
To assist the class teacher by undertaking a range of general and clerical tasks including preparing and maintaining classroom materials, supporting activities that contribute to the care and welfare of pupils and assisting pupils. These will normally be undertaken within the school or classroom.
The Council applies the Scottish Local Government Living Wage of £8.33 per hour to this post (Applies only to FC1, 2 & 3 posts)
Before confirming appointment, you will be required to obtain Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme membership through Disclosure Scotland and become a member of the relevant PVG scheme.
Key responsibilities include:
• Organisation and maintenance of resources as required, eg recording of TV or radio programmes, distributing and collecting relevant information as part of the school curriculum
• Escorting pupils within and outwith school premises
• Supporting individual pupils or groups of pupils as directed
• Developing working relationships with pupils, parents and staff
You will have general all round education with a minimum of 2 standard grades or equivalent, which demonstrates a satisfactory level of literacy and numeracy. Experience of working with children and team working is essential. You should have good communication skills and have a flexible approach to adapt to varying needs within the school as required.
