West Lothian Council is one of Scotland's most successful local authorities and is based in Livingston.
This is a varied and challenging statutory role as part of a busy Licensing Team with the Councils Legal Services.
The position is suitable for a motivated and enthusiastic individual seeking a position which brings the unique challenges of being a Licensing Standards Officer within a busy team and working with the thriving community of West Lothian. The successful candidate will be proactive and able to manage conflicting priorities and pressures effectively to ensure service delivery.
In addition to evidencing the essential skills and knowledge required for the post, the successful candidate will be committed to ensuring high standards of customer service, and be able to demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively and appropriately with customers, council officers, elected members and external bodies.
The skills and experience you must have are:
- The post holder must be the current holder of or commit to attainment of the Scottish Certificate for Licensing Standards Officers within 18 months of taking up the post
- Educated to at least HNC level, or be able to evidence equivalent experience relevant to the post
- Experience of dealing with a wide cross section of people, with particular reference to dealing with members of the public and the business community and external agencies such as Police Scotland
