The key duties of this post are:
Working as part of the Development Management team, you will you will investigate complaints about breaches of planning control and determine which complaints require to be pursued through formal enforcement action. The emphasis will be on negotiating solutions, with the use of formal procedures only where necessary. You will also draft enforcement notices and process planning applications which arise from enforcement action.
The skills and experience you must have are:
Experience of working in a local authority planning service, particularly development management, is desirable. The ability to read plans and scaled drawings is essential, as is the ability to become involved in negotiations with developers, agents or members of the public. Knowledge of planning legislation, with particular reference to enforcement, is also essential.
You must have a planning degree and be a member of the Royal Town Planning Institute, or be working towards membership.
