Job Description

Driver/Handyperson (PKC02295)
£11,224 - £12,250 (24 hours per week) (Fixed Term until 31 August 2017)
Dalweem Care Home, Aberfeldy

As the Handyperson you would have responsibility for undertaking simple maintenance and repair tasks within Dalweem Care Home. You will also be responsible for reporting faults, repairs and any maintenance issues to the appropriate dept. Role responsibility will also include undertaking Daily/Weekly/Monthly routine maintenance checks, audits of environment, including cross auditing with other units and keeping records and compiling reports, in line with above responsibilities. You will also be expected to hold and update accurate stock and inventory records and order cleaning materials and other stock goods as delegated via council systems, therefore basic IT skills would be an advantage.

The post holder will also have a responsibility for ensuring external environment around Dalweem is kept clean and tidy.

Knowledge/Understanding of current Health & Safety legislation including COSHH, IOSH, Fire Warden, Risk Assessments would be an advantage or a willingness to undertake the appropriate training to attain these.

Driving Perth & Kinross vehicles (Mini - Buses and Pool cars) will also be part of your role, therefore you must have a full clean driving Licence which includes D1 or Midas certificate or a willingness to attain Midas.

The post holder must demonstrate an ability to communicate with Service Users/Carers and other professionals.

Responsibility of stock control for all cleaning products and the completion of data sheets which go along with these.

Computer literacy would be advantage to enable Stock ordering, Auditing and Reporting concerns.

Responsible for conducting regular Fire Drill and Evacuations within the home with staff on duty

The Individual

Ability to communicate with Service Users/Carers and other Health Professionals.

An understanding of basic household and Garden maintenance and a knowledge of who to contact for further support.

Be able to meet the demands of the role and attend on a regular basis.

Understanding of the needs of older people who are vulnerable or at risk

Be able to work as part of a team as well as being capable of working on their own and using their own initiative.
