Senior Occupational Therapist  (13/900)

(West) 

£19,662 - £21,172

You will be required to work 18 hours per week, 52 weeks per year.

We have a part-time Senior Occupational Therapist vacancy to cover Stewartry and Wigtownshire (West). You will be responsible for the day to day management of the Occupational Therapy (OT) staff and service delivery of Occupational Therapy and Blue Badge Assessment. You will professionally supervise the Senior Practitioner Occupational Therapists based in each of the 2 localities maintaining and improving the quality of practice, as well as ensuring a fair and equitable service across the Region and report to the Service Manager for Occupational Therapy & Blue Badge Scheme.

You must have a Diploma, Degree or Post Graduate Occupational Therapy qualification and be registered to practise as an Occupational Therapist with the Health and Care Professions Council. You must also have significant experience of working as a Community Occupational Therapist, moderate experience supervising staff and students and have successfully completed a recognised Moving and Handling train the trainer course. A commitment to service development and post graduate learning and development is essential for this post.

You will be joining the service during a period of significant change and we need someone who is enthusiastic and positive about change and working in new and integrated ways. Therefore, knowledge of recent legislation and strategies for Health, Housing and Social Work is essential.

Regular supervision plus performance and development reviews are in place, as well as the opportunity to further develop post graduate knowledge, skills and experience.

This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council.

Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if offered a position, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check, will be required to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the country or countries in which they were resident.
