Advertisement Details

The Team Leader Port and Marine Operations reports to the Executive Manager - Ports and Harbours and is a member of the service management team. The Team Leader provides information and advice to the Executive Manager to support service and directorate decision taking and the provision of support to Elected Members in determining the Council's overall strategic objectives and priorities.

The Team Leader provides professional advice to the Executive Manager, Harbour Master, Director and Elected Members with respect to the development, planning and delivery of services to ensure the Council fulfils all statutory requirements and implements relevant policies in respect of these services.

Manage the safe and efficient operation of towage operations and pilot launch services in accordance with the Council's Values, objectives, targets and statutory obligations and supports the Harbour Master in the overall safe and effective running of Council ports.

  • Salary shown in the advert is inclusive of Distant Islands Allowance of £1,998 per annum
  • Permanent Full Time post for 37 hours per week, 52.18 weeks per year.

The Individual

The successful candidate must:
Be educated to Certificate of Competency as Deck Officer Class 1 (Master Mariner) or Harbourmaster's qualification or such other qualifications as would satisfy full (AFNI) membership of the Nautical Institute or equivalent.
Have knowledge of PMSC, ISM Code, STCW and other international conventions and regulations.
Have 3 years experience in a relevant area of work; and in addition experience in an ISM code Maritime Environment
Have experience of project management and delivery
Have experience of staff supervision
