Assistant Programmes Officer


35 hours per week
Temporary up to one year
£19,353 - £20,977 (including Distant Islands Allowance)

This is a new and exciting opportunity which would suit an experienced and well organised individual to co-ordinate the development and business cases for the Council Strategic Projects. The post holder will be expected to work collaboratively with other Project Officers across the Council and implement the Council’s project management processes.

You will have experience in processes required for project initiation, development, and reporting. An essential skill is in project management and understanding the workings of local government. Experience of financial processes, project management and understanding rural communities is desirable.

You will be IT literate and fully conversant with Microsoft Office packages including Outlook, Excel and Word. You will also be expected to learn how to use the Council’s own bespoke systems.
Applicants should possess an SVQ2 or equivalent. A diploma in Business Administration or similar is desirable as is a PRINCE2 practitioner accreditation or similar.

You will be an effective communicator with excellent networking and presentation skills. You will be able to develop professional relationships with a wide range of contacts. You will be committed to team working which will involve motivating, influencing and supporting others.

The successful candidate will be someone who is focused and who can deliver against set objectives whilst working under pressure, to set deadlines and adapt to changing working practices.
