Job Description

As part of a restructure across Stirling Council, a vacancy has arisen for an Enforcement Officer – Pest Control to carry out the duties and responsibilities of a Pest Control Officer by assisting officers and offering technical advice and support to implement the statutory responsibilities of the Council in relation to Pest Control and other matters of public health. The successful candidate will prepare, apply and give advice on baits, traps and works for the disposal and prevention of rodents, vermin, pigeons, wasps etc.

You will carry out appropriate follow up treatment or works, where appropriate, including the manufacture and erection of bird proofing systems, to carry out the disinfestations of premises from fleas, ants, cockroaches and any other insects as appropriate. Treat mice, rats, fleas, flies, pigeons, gulls and other bird species in domestic and commercial properties. You will investigate complaints received by the Department relating to rodents, insect activity and public health, carry out and record maintenance tasks, routine risk assessments to comply with legislation requirements and HSE guidelines. You will also be responsible for stock control and rotation of chemicals and rodenticides.

Duties will also include issuing Fixed Penalty Notices for environmental offences, antisocial behaviour, and Penalty Charge Notices for non-compliance of parking restrictions, animal control and other relevant enforcement offences. You will ensure that vehicles (including vehicles displaying relevant disabled badges) are complying with parking restrictions and report relevant breaches and maintain an up to date knowledge of relevant legislation, policies and procedure and encourage positive relationships with partners and communities.
