A permanent opportunity has arisen to join our client as a Mechanical Fitter/Plant Operator based in Irvine, Scotland.

Our client offers commercial and industrial customers a comprehensive range of independent specialist water & wastewater asset management services and process solutions, tailored to meet their needs. They manage over 3000 sites nationwide, across a wide range of sectors, including industrial sites, hotel chains, care homes, roadside restaurants, social housing and petroleum forecourts.

As a Mechanical Fitter/Plant Operator, you will form an integral part of the Waste Water Treatment Plant (WWTP) operational team. This will involve carrying out industry leading proactive maintenance and operation of assets and infrastructure on the WWTP.

You will be a strong advocate of our client’s and the site’s health & safety (H&S) policy and procedures, ensuring a focussed and positive attitude at all times. You will lead by example and live by the company commitment to the principle that all accidents and harm are preventable.

Working as part of a shift team (working 12 hour shifts on a 4 on 4 off basis), you will carry out routine and nonroutine mechanical inspections, repairs and maintenance. You will also carry out routine plant operations duties including set-point review and adjustment, sampling, some laboratory testing and other general operational duties (training provided). You will be a key contributor to the goals of excellence in site maintenance, cleanliness and operational efficiency.

A key aspect of this role will be to improve existing plans and contribute to designing new full life asset maintenance plans. You will pay particular attention to environmental permit requirements and revenue generating streams, ensuring that Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and targets are achieved and that your attention is on improving performance and efficiency. In particular, focusing on the compliance of the treated effluent discharge to the environment and the optimal performance of the Anaerobic Digester (AD) plant.

To be successful in your application you will be educated to Standard 3 or GCSE C grade Level in English, Science and Maths or equivalent. You will have previous experience in a similar role and have gained relevant mechanical/fitters qualifications.

With experience of working to detailed asset management plans, you will be used to following set procedures in a tightly controlled H&S environment. Experience in a waste water operations and/or industrial processing plant would be advantageous.

You will have excellent communication and organisational skills and have a flexible attitude towards your work. You will be a team player who is able to adapt to change and challenge where required. With a pro-active and positive attitude, you will be forward thinking with good analytical, IT and customer service skills.
