Job Purpose:
To deliver a statutory social work service by providing leadership and management to a team which is responsible for creating an environment where each service user is enabled to maintain and develop their potential, contributing to the service users’ wellbeing and promoting active citizenship.


The post holder needs to hold as a minimum:

SVQ level 4 in Social Care or willingness to attain
SVQ 4 management or K303 in managing care or equivalent or willingness to attain within a set timeframe OR
Any other combination of relevant qualifications according to the SSSC registration requirements for managers of care home services for Adults/Managers of Day Services for Adults
PVG or willingness to attain


The post holder is expected to demonstrate:

Knowledge of the range of services and resources available and apply these in order to improve outcomes for service users
Adult support and protection responsibilities are clear and actioned across the team
The ability to assess and communicate effectively with service users, staff and other stakeholders to achieve improved outcomes for service users
The ability to lead and support practice change into operational practice and service delivery, including identifying training needs of staff to ensure continuous improvement
Operate as a member of a team and take responsibility for the health and the safety of staff and service users in their environment in conjunction with the Team/Group Manager
Ability to plan and manage and lead the work of the team; effectively motivate, supervise and develop the team and individuals, providing guidance and support including effective induction processes are in place
Ability to manage priorities and deadlines
Organising, chairing, taking part in regular meetings
The ability to challenge practice including investigating complaints with a view to improving practice
Knowledge and experience of proactive responses to challenging behaviour
The ability to support and develop staff to advocate on behalf of service users with professionals and appropriate agencies
