First Interview Date: 7 November 2016,
Appointment Sub-committee Interview Date: 25 November 2016
We’re an ambitious Council, transforming what we do and how we do it to best serve the people of Fife in these changing and challenging times. We want to innovate, to lead, to inspire and we’re looking for a Head of Legal Services who’ll bring fresh approaches and new thinking to help deliver our new ways of working.
You’ll be a qualified solicitor with a current practicing certificate issued by the Law Society of Scotland. You’ll have extensive post-qualification legal practice and a proven track record of managing the provision of legal services in a large, complex organisation. And, crucially, you’ll be clear how innovative practice and culture change, coupled with strong leadership and a focus on compliance and governance, will help us achieve our ambitions.
You’ll set the bar. This isn’t just about leading and delivering the provision of professional legal services across a broad portfolio, ensuring appropriate legal representation at Council committees and formal proceedings, or ensuring fulfilment of statutory functions and business critical activity, or even supporting robust decision making and protecting the interests and integrity of the Council – although these are obviously all very important things.
This is about taking forward exciting opportunities, inspiring and shaping for the future, and delivering the legal services we need in a way that matches our ambitions.
You’ll have the drive to innovate and lead change, engage and empower, and think corporately, strategically and differently. You’ll have the experience and enthusiasm to identify and respond positively, flexibly, and pragmatically to emerging issues. You’ll have the confidence and credibility to contribute as a visible and inspiring leader to the Directorate Leadership Team across a range of responsibilities. You’ll have the skills to manage significant staffing and budgetary responsibilities, and ensure fulfilment of statutory functions and business critical activity.
Around here, How We Work Matters and you’ll role model and promote our values and behaviours:
• Take ownership
• Focus on customers
• Work together
• Embrace technology and information
• Deliver results.
