Assistant Manager - Job Summary

Are you an existing Assistant Manager, Deputy Manager or Sales Manager in the Glasgow area, with a track record of driving sales through a service driven approach? The Trade Counter Assistant Manager role is ideal for a top performing Manager with experience within a furniture, DIY or a similar sales background who can prove an excellent sales record and deliver a strong, motivated and coaching leadership style. Full UK Driving Licence is essential.

Assistant Manager - Role Responsibility

Working together with the Showroom Manager as part of the management and sales team, the Assistant Showroom Manager is responsible for supporting the Showroom Manager in the day-to-day management of the showroom. The Assistant Showroom Manager is responsible for overseeing the performance of the sales advisors in terms of sales and customer and general performance, subsequently effectively assisting in the management of the department as a whole.


Ensuring the showroom is opened and closed securely on time on a daily basis
Ensuring the store is clean, tidy and professionally presented at all times
Trains store staff by reviewing and revising orientation to products and sales training materials; delivering training sessions; reviewing staff job results and learning needs with retail store manager; developing and implementing new product training
To achieve/exceed in store and phone KPI's/Targets put in place
To lead, coach and mentor your team of sales advisors to achieve/exceed in store and phone KPI's/Targets
Evaluates competition by visiting competing stores; gathering information such as style, quality, and prices of competitors
Promotes sales by demonstrating merchandise and products to customers where possible
Helps customers by providing information; answering questions/queries; obtaining merchandise requested and completing payment transactions
Ensure our collection & fast track service works to its optimum
Carrying out end of day banking inline with company procedures
Key holder
Emergency contact or call out for your store
Prepares sales and customer relations reports by analyzing and categorizing sales information; identifying and investigating customer complaints and service suggestions
Health and Safety, maintains a safe and clean store environment by developing and publishing evacuation routes; determining and documenting locations of potential hazards using risk assessments and enforcing the correct safety control measures are in place
Maintains inventory by checking merchandise to determine inventory levels; anticipating customer demand
Prepares reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information
Maintains quality service by establishing and enforcing organization standards
Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and training seminars in house
Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
Covering staff sickness to ensure your store is fully operational at all times


Assistant Manager - The Ideal Candidate

To be considered for this position you must have previous experience of working to financial targets & KPI's showing the ability to achieve/exceed them in a retail environment. In addition, you must possess the following key skills and experience:


Having a friendly and engaging personality
Comfortable working with members of the public
Should have a confident manner
Excellent telephone manner
Must be helpful and polite
Assistants should be physically fit as they will be on their feet for a large part of the day
You should have a comprehensive understanding of your area of sales i.e. retail, Fast Moving Consumer Goods, bathroom equipment etc
Able to work as part of a sales team Knowledge of inventory techniques Should be of a smart appearance and articulate
Motivated and driven
Excellent sales background
Ability to maintain a fair, consistent set of standards as they apply to workforce
Good innovation skills with the ability to think outside the box and make improvements and changes
Experience of KPI's with the ability to achieve/exceed them
Excellent IT skills
Natural Leader & Team player
Minimum of one year sales management experience
