Casual Cook 1/Cleaner/Toilet Cleaner /Caretaker
Various bases throughout Dumfries and Galloway
£8.33 per hour

*Cook 1
You will be required to work in Primary/Secondary schools. General catering duties include: money handling, serving meals, setting up/clearing dining room, dishwashing etc. Experience is preferred but full training will be given if required. A basic Food Hygiene Certificate would be advantageous.

You will be required to undertake general cleaning duties including vacuuming, dusting, emptying bins, cleaning washroom facilities, etc. You must be able to use your own initiative. Experience is desirable, although full training will be provided if required. You must have basic numeracy and literacy skills.

Toilet Cleaner
You will be required to open, clean and close Public Toilets on daily basis throughout the summer season. Experience is desirable, although full training will be provided if required. This post will include some key holder responsibilities.

Duties Include: Cleaning of the toilet areas, entrance and foyer. Toilet Cleaner will also be responsible for the safety, security, and reporting maintenance and repairs required to premises.
You will be a lone worker.

You will be responsible for ensuring security of the premises and its contents including the operation of fire and burglar alarms together with key holder responsibilities and responding to out-of-hours emergency calls.

Duties include the lighting, heating and cleaning of the premises including porterage and handyperson duties. Other tasks arising from the use of the premises include setting out furniture as and when required.

The above salary includes a current living wage supplement.

From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council.

Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if offered a position, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check, will be required to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the country or countries in which they were resident.
