Job Description

Opportunities are available for Residential Social Care Staff for Days on a full-time, fixed term contract and on a sessional basis paid at a sessional rate.

This is a challenging opportunity for which we require flexible, imaginative and enthusiastic workers.

Applicants for all Care posts should preferably be experienced in working with young people, in a Residential, Secure Care or Community based setting and possess the skills to achieve a safe balance of care and control.  You must be an excellent communicator and team player and have the ability to develop good relationships with young people, other professional colleagues and visitors to the establishment. You will demonstrate an awareness of your impact on others and an ability to work under pressure. You require to show a commitment to making young people feel safe and positive about themselves. You must also have a sound understanding of the values of social care and of the professional role in working with vulnerable young people.

You should already have the qualifications, or be currently working towards, Higher National Certificate in Social Care and the Scottish Vocational Qualification in Care at Level 3 (or Caring for Children and Young People/Social Services/Children & Young People), or equivalent qualifications recognised by the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC). You must also be registered or registerable with the SSSC. Training and familiarisation with our policies and procedures will be provided when taking up the post and on-going support will be given during the course of your probationary period.

All posts are exempt under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and all convictions whether spent or unspent must be declared. Membership of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups Scheme will be essential on taking up appointment along with registration with your professional bodies for the post. Please note successful candidates will be required to pay for their PVG membership/ Scheme Check or update.
